The legislative meet and greet for people with disabilities is next week. This is an awesome opportunity for you to meet with legislators and speak to them face to face about Clay's Law. It is on February 3rd at 4:30-6:00pm in the Capitol Rotunda.
If you plan to attend, please RSVP to Trisha Rouse at the Statewide Independent Living Council. The number is 801-463-1592. This is probably so that they can have name tags made and food and drink for enough people. If you forget to RSVP or just don't bother with it, you can still come, of course, but it helps the organizers to know numbers if at all possible. *UPDATE* Please email trouse@usilc.org to RSPV*
If you plan to attend, you should e-mail your legislators if possible to let them know that you will be at the meet and greet to visit with them. It is our understanding that legislators will be more likely to attend and/or stay longer if they have received several or more e-mails of constituents planning to visit with them. If you have already spoken to your legislator by phone or in person, it's a good idea to thank them for that in the e-mail.
Everyone should bring as many people as they can to talk to the legislator--spouses, parents, siblings, nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, pastors, bishops, neighbors, friends. The more folks we have e-mailing they are coming and the more that show up, the better. You may have to wait for the legislative session to end for the day for the legislators to come visit. They could also leave very quickly too. Coming at 4:30 probably means you have to wait, but coming at 5:45 probably means your legislator is not still there!
Thanks Betsy for getting us this great information!
